Apple has for years been natively bringing a tool (Find App) to find out the location of some of its devices. However, users only remember it when their iPhone, iPad, or Mac is lost or stolen. The Find app on iOS 13 is more complete and also combines another app. Now, you can use this app.

Get started with the Find app on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Easily locate friends and family. Share your location with others, let them share theirs, and find lost devices. All this with the Find app.

Enable location services

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and select Privacy
  3. Select Location Services.
  4. Turn on Location Services.

Enable Share Location

If you want friends and family to know your location, enable Share location on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. If they also share their location, you can see where they are.

  1. Open the Settings app and select [your name].
  2. Select Find.
  3. Enable Share Location.

If you set up Family Sharing, you will be able to see members of your Family Sharing group with whom you are sharing your location.

Enable the Find app [device]

  1. Open the Settings app and select [your name].
  2. Select Find, then Find [device] and enable Find [device].
  3. To view your device even when offline, enable Enable Offline Location.
  4. To send your device’s location to Apple when the battery is low, enable the last location option.

If Apple Watch and AirPods are paired with your device, they are automatically set when you activate the Find [device] app.

Get started with Find on Mac

Easily locate friends and family. Share your location with others, let them share theirs, and  find lost devices. All this with the Find app.

Enable location services

  1. Select Apple menu > System Preferences.
  2. Click Security and privacy, and then click the Privacy tab.
  3. If the lock in the lower left corner is closed  , click it, and then enter the administrator name and password.
  4. Select Location Services.
  5. Select the ” Enable location services ” checkbox.
  6. Select the box next to ” Find ” in the list of apps under Location Services.

Enable Find Mac app

  1. Select Apple menu > System Preferences.
  2. Click Apple ID , and then click iCloud.
  3. Select the box to enable Find Mac.

Choose Map Settings

Select your favorite map view from the Find app. You can even see the distance on the map in kilometers or miles.

Select a Map View

  1. Open the Find app.
  2. Select View from the menu bar.
  3. Click View, and then choose Map, Hybrid, or Satellite view.

Use any browser to access the Find app via iCloud

Despite being a native application of operating systems, Apple also makes it available through its browser. This way, if you have stolen or lost a device, use any browser to reach your iCloud account.

  1. Open the page www.icloud.com .
  2. Enter your Apple ID credentials.
  3. Click Find iPhone, then choose the device from your device list.

Here you will have, for each device, the actions of trying to locate it, send the last location, block and even delete all its contents.
