Facebook to ban ads of products offering treatments for Coronavirus

Facebook announced that it will ban ads for products offering to treat or prevent coronavirus, as well as ads that cause panic about the situation.
The virus, which is believed to have originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan late last year, has killed more than 2,700 people.
The Facebook announcement comes as the social media giant faces scrutiny over the type of content posted on its platform, especially articles that reflect extremist ideologies or fabricated news.
A company spokesman said that ads containing messages such as “face masks that guarantee 100 percent protection against the spread of the virus” would not be allowed to be published.
