The world of Android devices is packed, practically every day there is someone who receives a new update, however, in recent months we have also seen numerous Huawei and HONOR devices embrace Android 10 updating to EMUI 10 (some already in stable version, still others in beta). However, some models of the two brands will not make it and therefore will stop at Android 9 Pie.
The list of Huawei and HONOR smartphones that will not receive the update to the EMUI 10 with Android 10 base has been drawn up on the basis of a series of official responses collected by the Huawei Central team. Here they are:
- HONOR Play
- HONOR 9
- HONOR 9 Lite
- HONOR 8X Max
- Huawei Y9 2019
- Huawei Nova 3
- Huawei Nova 3i
- Huawei P20 Lite
At this point it is good to make some clarifications on each of the listed smartphones.
HONOR Play: there is still hope for updating to EMUI 10
Although no longer brand new, HONOR Play, thanks to an almost top-of-the-range hardware equipment of its generation (above all, the SoC Kirin 970), would probably have deserved a different fate and in fact it is the only one that can still hope.
While HONOR India has limited itself to saying that the device will continue to receive security patches, HONOR UK has reported that some devices will be updated by the end of March, while the release dates for other models have not yet been confirmed.
For all the other models listed, however, the answers from Huawei and HONOR were clear and unequivocal: HONOR 9, 9 Lite, 8X Max, Huawei P20 Lite, Nova 3, Nova 3i and Y9 (2019) will not receive the update to Android 10 and EMUI 10. The official position expressed by the two brands links the non-arrival of the update to hardware limitations that would not allow its correct and adequate operation.
