Important updates are being rolled out for four Android smartphones, Nokia 8 , HONOR Play, Asus Zenfone 5 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 : the first three are beginning to welcome Android 9 Pie, while the fourth sees the introduction of new security patches and some other improvements .
The good news comes directly from Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer at HMD Global: after some minor delay due to last-minute problems and a rapid beta phase, the rollout of Android 9 Pie for Nokia 8 has started. The new firmware, full of news, is distributed via OTA and could reach your Nokia 8 at any moment. To check you can go to the dedicated section of system settings.

Together with Nokia, HONOR Play is starting to receive a new update at this time with the last major release of the green robot. Android 9 Pie is in distribution with the EMUI 9 : to verify the arrival on your smartphone you just have to go in the system settings.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5
Minor update for Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 , but still to be taken into consideration. The smartphone of the Chinese house is receiving the MIUI 10.0.6.0.OEIMIFH stable, weighing about 167 MB.
The changelog reports the security patches of November 2018 and the solution of some bugs: one related to the display of the battery level of the associated Bluetooth devices, one concerning the operator’s name and one the opening of WhatsApp. Also in this case you can update by going to the system settings.
Asus Zenfone 5
The update to the latest version of the green robot is officially available for ASUS ZenFone 5 , while several other ZenFone smartphones are receiving a new software update.
The installation package for ASUS ZenFone 5 is available on the official website of the manufacturer and brings the stable and final version of Android 9 Pie .
If you do not want to wait for the update notification via OTA, you can download the 1.1 GB package directly into the device microSD from this address. Once the smartphone is restarted in recovery mode you only need to select “apply updates from microSD” to proceed with the installation of Android 9 Pie.
As for the other smartphone of the ZenFone family, ASUS has released a new software update for ZenFone Max Plus M1, ZenFone 4 Max and ZenFone Max Pro M1.
ZenFone Max Plus only receives the November security patches, while the other two receive, in addition to the December security patches, some improvements to the camera, Wi-Fi and compatibility with third-party applications.
