Facebook announced that the ban on political ads will continue for another month, according to a statement sent by the social media company to advertisers today, Wednesday.
And Facebook, which imposed this ban as part of measures to address misinformation on its website, had previously said that the ban would last for at least a week, but it could be extended.
“Several sources have speculated about the winner of the presidency, we still believe that it is important to help prevent confusion or misuse of our platform, ” the company said in an email
With false allegations questioning the integrity of voting on social media, Alphabet’s Google appears committed to banning political ads after the election.
The company, which said the ban would continue for at least a week after voting ended on Nov. 3, declined to answer questions about when and how the restrictions would end.
A spokeswoman for Google said earlier that the company would end the ban based on factors such as the time required to count the votes of voters and the likelihood of civil unrest.
